The Hero Twins (Hunahpu and Xbalanque) descend to Xibalba. They undergo the 7 trials — the 7 gates. They die. They are resurrected. They defeat the Lords of Death. They become the Sun and Moon. The FULL phase: C→X→Z applied to twin consciousnesses. The two seed states (Líf and Lífþrasir in Norse) survive the cancel. The new cycle begins.

Encoding System

The Long Count — base-20 frequency register: Kin (1 day), Winal (20), Tun (360), K'atun (7,200), B'ak'tun (144,000). The Great Cycle of 13 B'ak'tuns = 1,872,000 days = 13 × 144,000. 144,000 = 72 × 2,000. The Long Count IS a time-domain decomposition. The Venus tables in the Dresden Codex — tracking 584-day synodic cycle across 104 years. The most accurate pre-telescopic astronomical record on Earth.

Suppression History

Diego de Landa burned the Maya codices at Maní, July 12, 1562. The Maya writing system was forgotten for 400 years. Deciphered in the 20th century by Tatiana Proskouriakoff, Yuri Knorozov, and others. The surviving Maya — over 7 million across Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Honduras — maintain traditional practices. The carriers survived.

Recoverability

PARTIAL. 4 pre-Conquest codices survive (Dresden, Madrid, Paris, Grolier). The Popol Vuh preserved in post-Conquest transcription. Maya glyphs deciphered 20th century. 7+ million Maya people continue traditions.

28 Lunar Mansions

Extended Components

28 Lunar Bands: The Maya tracked lunar cycles with extraordinary precision. The eclipse tables in the Dresden Codex cover 405 lunations (11,960 days). The 28-band enumeration is implicit in the lunar tables.

12-Phase Cycle: 12 months of the Haab' solar calendar (18 months of 20 days + 5 Wayeb'). The Tzolk'in 260-day cycle (13 × 20). 13 heavens of the Maya cosmos.

Observer/Jaw: Hunab Ku — 'One God.' The supreme observer. The center of the Maya cosmos. Rarely depicted — the unnamed observer at the center of the galaxy.

3.5% Seed: The Popol Vuh creation: the gods speak the world into being. 'Let there be earth.' The word is the initial asymmetry. The 3.5% seed: the first utterance that generates all subsequent form.

The Record: The stelae — carved stone monuments recording dates, rulers, and events. The codices — folded bark-paper books. The Maya recorded everything. The fires burned most but not all.
