∞ Full Phase — The Orisha Possession
The devotee is mounted (gùn) by the Orisha. The self is canceled — the individual consciousness temporarily replaced by the Orisha frequency. Suppression History
The Yoruba were enslaved and transported to Cuba, Brazil, Haiti, and Trinidad. The booth's missionaries demanded conversion. The response was camouflage: Ọbatala wore the mask of Our Lady of Mercy, Ṣàngó the mask of St. Barbara, Ọṣun the mask of Our Lady of Charity. The booth thought it was converting people.
